So let's start off with something straightforward and simple. You'll find this baby in the GFF club garage:




It's just a bog standard MINI Cooper S - no upgrades or tuning, haven't even changed the tyre pressure, just a lick of paint really. So grab it out of the garage and take it for a spin on Maple Valley Short Circuit Reverse



Fastest lap wins a medal!

In order to enter the comp you will need to be a member of the GFF club.

Obviously, if you set a fast time on Maple Valley Short Reverse in another car, you will need to beat it with this MINI or it simply won't show up on the leaderboards. But nobody has set a time with this class on this track yet, so you shouldn't find any existing times clogging up the leaderboards for you.

Beware Triangle laps! they will ALL count as slower than clean laps!

My boy got a copy of this one, it has been hyped a bit over the last year, but again, it was not a title I had much intention of buying for myself - it looked a bit too "generic". With its use of the Unreal Engine and Cliff Bleszinski onboard as producer, this was always going to draw comparisons with Gears of War, but apart from the character models and some weapons, there is little similarity.

Bulletstorm is very much a first person shooter, and the setting (a former resort planet now overrun with meat-eating plants, feral mutant tribes, criminals, and Godzilla-sized monsters) is generally surprisingly colourful with clear blue skies, large waterfalls and lush green palms and foliage on the surface. But the game also does a good job of mixing up the environments with massive destroyed cities, toxic underground tunnels and some extensive indoor areas. Plot is pretty straightforward and although its not going to win any awards it actually plays out quite well, voice acting is quite good too (particularly the lead character, Grayson Hunt) and there are some genuinely funny moments which had me laughing out loud (which I think is a first for me with a game).

Dialogue is shocking. I mean foul rather than bad. I think if I had got hold of this first I would have have second thoughts about letting my son play it. Its all a bit gratuitous with a lot (and I mean A LOT) of swearing for the sake of it. But its so over the top it gets quite amusing as the game goes on. But this is a game which deserves its 18 rating.

At the heart of the game is the "Skillshot", this system expects players to find ingenious, brutal and amusing ways to kill enemies and rewards them with points bonuses which stack up for more complex combinations of kills. It feels a little laboured at first, but when you get into the swing of it, it can be a lot of fun looking to execute some of the more complex skillshots.
